Di GAETANO, Florence (nee Candall). Passed away peacefully on July 13, 2004 in her eighty-third year. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1920, at the age of eight years old she was afflicted with a bone disease that she fought for many years. In her early twenties, she lost the battle and her leg was amputated. Florence married Albert Di Gaetano in 1945 and moved to Montreal where they had a long and happy life together. Despite her serious disability she had a zest for life, she was a kind and thoughtful person, who never forgot anyone's birthday. She was known as "Auntie Florence". A lady who's courage was a symbol of hope to all who knew her even though it was very difficult to control her pain as she grew older. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert, her mother Margarette Christopher, her father Casper, step-mother Betty Bargelletti, her brother John and sister-in-law Mary. She is survived by her brothers Thomas (Virginia), Casper (Marlene), his children and grandchildren of California, her sister Mary Hartvigsen (Ken) her three sons and grandson of Idaho. Her Canadian family consists of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Jean Bosco Church, 2510 Springland, Montreal on August 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment of her cremated remains to follow at the Cote-Des-Neiges Cemetery. A Mass in her memory will be celebrated July 31, 2004 in California. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, 3830 Lacombe Ave., Montreal, would be appreciated.
