STURROCK, Robert Forbes 1926 - 2007 Bob passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C. on May 31. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Orma (nee Craig), sister Bea Scully, brother Ken, and many nieces and nephews. Uncle Bob will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature; his sense of humour; and his passion for scientific research. He was a man of integrity, believing in the best of everyone. Uncle Bob never forgot his humble beginnings in rural Alberta during the depression and his good fortune in obtaining post-war veterans scholarships, and therefore generously supported those less fortunate. Following service with the RCAF during WWII, he earned a M.Sc. (Physics) from the University of Alberta and then spent his entire career as a research scientist with the federal government based in the Ottawa and Victoria areas. His favourite project was his electronic design work for Canada's first satellites, the Alouette I and II. Bob enjoyed photography and applying his skills to image processing. After retirement, he and Orma enjoyed golf, the company of their poodles, and visits with friends and family. Bob was a member of the Gorge Vale Golf Club and St. Paul's Anglican Church in Esquimalt. Uncle Bob will be sorely missed by friends and family. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Christ Church, Huntley, near Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favourite charity in Bob's memory. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 6/2/2007 - 6/4/2007
