EDWARDS, Dorothy Cicely (Babs) Nee Goss June 20, 1918 - May 25, 2007 Babs passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on May 25th, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Gordon Edwards and grandson Cameron Edwards. She will be missed by her children; Celia (Leonard) Edwards-Landry (Ottawa); Josephine Deiters (Toronto); Pamela (Douglas) Edwards-Baker (Victoria); Christopher (Jacynthe) Edwards-Bouchard (Victoria) and David Edwards (Esquimalt). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Jennifer, Heather, Philip, Timothy, Andrew, Michael, Angela and Winston. She will be remembered as GG by her great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Alexander and Andrew. Babs was born in Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, England on June 20th, 1918. She served with the British Women's Land Army during WWII. In 1941 she met and married her husband Jack, a member of the Toronto Scottish Regiment stationed in England. Like many war brides, Babs immigrated to Canada with two little girls. She settled in Oakville, Ontario with hubby Jack. In 1973 she moved to Vancouver Island and settled in the Comox Valley. She served as the coordinator for the Comox Valley Stroke Club for 20 years. Babs moved to Victoria in 2000. While in Victoria she was a member of the Royal Brides Local Chapter of the IODE. In August 2006 she moved to Ottawa to live with her daughter. Babs enjoyed the ocean where she found solace and peace. She will always be remembered for her love of life and her carefree attitude. We thank the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, and doctor Eileen Biggs, Babs family physician, for her exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Internment was held at the Courtenay Municipal Cemetery, Courtenay B.C. on Friday June 1st followed by a celebration of her life. A celebration of her life will also be held at her daughter's home in Ottawa, Sunday June 3rd. Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 6/3/2007
