CHMIELNIK, Janusz Stanislaw Mrs Agnes Chmielnik du Bois d'Aische regrets to announce the death of her husband Janusz on June 3rd, 2007. Janusz Chmielnik was born on March the 8 1920 in Plawce, Poland. Following his secondary studies in Posnan he registered in a classical studies institute in Warsaw. He was a cadet officer of the Polish Home Army from November 1942 to October 1944 when he was taken prisoner by the German Army. He was interned at Lamsdorf, Germany from October 1944 to April 1945 when the camp was liberated by the Allied Army. In 1945 he arrived in Belgium after being formally recognized for his service in the Polish Home Army. On September 26, 1951 he married Agnes du Bois d'Aische in Brussels. The same year he emigrated with his wife to Canada where they settle in Ottawa. There he worked as regional sales manager for McGuiness Distillers Limited until his retirement. He died quietly at the Champlain Institute in Ottawa surrounded by the members of his family and caring staff of the Institute. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature, his sense of humour and his willingness to provide help around him. A Service in Memory of Janusz will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in the Chapel of the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset St. W. (centretown) at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.
