WICKWARE, Dr. Douglas On June 8th, 2007, Dr. Douglas Macneil Wickware peacefully passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at the Palliative Care Unit, of Parkwood Hospital. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Jacqueline (Stunden) Wickware for 60 years. Loving father to Bruce and his wife Sandra; Scott and partner Mairlyn; and Barbara (Bobby) and husband Stephen. His loved and loving grandchildren Lindsay, David, and Andrew; Michael and Daniel, and Andrew Kacsor, brought him great joy. Doug is survived by a sister, Deltra Johnson Davis; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Wickware was born in Ottawa, January 15, 1922 and had his early education in that city. He graduated in 1946 from Queens University medical school. He obtained his D. Psych. from the University of Toronto; FRCP(C) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada) in 1972. He was Medical Superintendent of London Psychiatric Hospital 1959-1972. He became Professor of Psychiatry and Deputy Director of Psychiatric Services at University Hospital, London and co-ordinator of Forensic Psychiatric Services for south-western Ontario. In 1984, he was honored to become Professor Emeritus for the faculty of Medicine U.W.O. He was Past President Ontario Psychiatric Association, C.M.H.A. London and Middlesex, London and District Academy of Medicine, and University Hospital Medical Staff and was on the University Hospital Board of Directors. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Palliative Care team at Parkwood Hospital for their kindness and compassion, which helped us through his last days; our caring and proficient family doctor, Dr. Dale Wilson; Dr. N. Muirhead; Nurse Practitioner Sara; the South West C.C.A.C. and St. Elizabeth Health Care Support, especially Susan. Thank you all! Family and friends will be received at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the memorial service being conducted in the chapel on Tuesday, June 12th, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. In Doug's memory, donations would be appreciated to Sleeping Children Around the World, 28 Pinehurst Crescent, Islington, ON M9A 3A5.
