Joseph "Joe" Cote, of Hearst The funeral service for Hearst area retiree Joseph ‘Joe’ Côté, 63, was held April 19, 2007. He died April 13 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born April 30, 1943 in Mattice, he worked for many years with what is now NorthernTel, retiring as a central office technician. He later worked summers at Fushimi Lake Provincial Park. He enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards. Predeceasing him were his parents, two children, three sisters and three brothers. He leaves his wife Pierrette Côté of Hearst, daughters Michelle (Denis) Ménard of Hearst and Marcelle (Patrick) Halliday of Kapuskasing, a son Marc (Laura) Côté of Mattice, and his companion’s son Alain (Christiane) Lacroix and two children of Jogues. Also surviving are his sisters Jeannine (Armand) Samson of Hearst and Laurette (David) Bois of Fort Frances, brothers Raymond (Pierrette) of Loretteville, Qué., and Roland (Rollande) Côté of Hearst, granddaughters Cassandra, Samantha and Megan, grandsons Mickahel, Donavon, and Matieu, and nieces and nephews. Rev. Rémi Lessard directed the service at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Commemorative donations may be made to the hospital’s palliative care service.
