Armand Gilles Vachon, of Hallebourg The funeral service for Hallébourg resident Armand Gilles Vachon, 79, took place April 19, 2007 in Mattice. He died April 15 at Notre-Dame Hospital from a lengthy illness. Born July 14, 1927 in the former hamlet of Fryatt (west of Mattice), he was described as a generous person who looked after Hallébourg’s Eglise Ste-Anne church and adjoining cemetery grounds, and who voluntarily cleared snow from residents’ driveways. He was a member of the Fédération des aîné-e-s et des retraité-e-s francophones de l’Ontario. Predeceased by his parents, a sister and four brothers, all of the Hearst, Hallébourg and Timmins areas, he leaves his sisters Marguerite Lachance of Mattice, Anne-Marie St-Hilaire of Ottawa, Cécile Christianson of Hearst, and Andréa Morris of Florida, and brothers Emmanuel (Thérèse) Vachon of Hearst, Ange-Aimé of Mattice, and Jacques (Huguette) Vachon of Timmins. Rev. Gérald Chalifoux directed the service at Eglise St-François-Xavier. Interment will be at Ste-Anne Cemetery.
