COLLINS, ERNIE 1925-2007 The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday, May 23 rd, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Loving husband of Phyllis Collins (nee Taylor). Dearest father of John Collins (wife Connie) of Timmins, Sybil Dunbabin (husband Ernie) of Porcupine, Eric Collins (wife Laura) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Lynda Zajac (husband Bijou) of Victoria B.C., Ellen Klimo (husband Martin) of Ottawa, Ont., Janet Barterski (husband Ron) of Peach Tree City, Georgia, U.S.A., Paul Collins (wife Joyce) of Porcupine, Robert Collins (wife Melissa) of Welland, Ont. and Andrew Collins (Sarah Scobi) of Ottawa. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Brother of Joyce Wyatt of Reading, England, Phyllis Harris of Twyford, England and Ena Farquar (husband Willard) of Cochrane, Ont. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Sarah Collins as well as by his brother Percy Collins. Ernie was born in Reading, England. He proudly served in WWII with the British Royal Navy for 4 years and married Phyllis, his wife of 59 years in England on August 2, 1947. After leaving England, he and Phyllis settled in Saskatechewn in 1951 and later moved to Kapuskasing where Ernie began his long career in customer service in the airline industry. He started with TransCanada Airlines in Kapuskasing and then moved to Sudbury and later Timmins where he spent 37 years with Air Canada and a further 10 years with Air Ontario until his retirement at age 73 in 1999. Ernie also spent 17 years of his time in Timmins working for the Beaver Lumber store. As well, Ernie was an honorary member of the K-40 Club of Timmins. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 from the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home ( Rev. Bruce Roberts officiating). Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, 150 Balsam St., S., Timmins.
