Mary Kathryn Roach After a lengthy illness, Mary Kathryn Roach of Englehart died June 2, 2007 at the Toronto General Hospital. She was born in Guelph on January 8, 1947 to Gordon and Margaret Fricker. She moved to Englehart in 1963 and received her education in Englehart, Georgetown and Acton and married Vic Roach in Norval, Ontario, on August 31, 1968. Mrs. Roach was always there to help with volunteering in the Lions and Lioness Clubs, the food bank, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Royal Canadian Legion and many others. She received numerous awards for her efforts including two Appreciation Awards from the International Lions President, two Helen Keller Fellowships, a Melvin Jones Fellowship, a special achievement award from the Canadian Diabetes Association, Ontario Volunteer Service Award and most recently the Englehart Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in February of 2007. Mrs. Roach was also a member of Christ Church Anglican in Englehart. Predeceased by her father Gordon Fricker, she is survived by her husband Vic; sons Tim and Terry; grandsons Morgan and Darian; granddaughter Sydney; and her mother Margaret Fricker. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart. The service will be conducted Wednesday, June 6 at 11 a.m. at the Englehart Arena Complex by Reverend Richard White. Interment of ashes will take place at the Charlton Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town will come from Winnipeg, Fort McMurray, Kenora, London, Acton, Tempe, Arizona, Sudbury, Timmins and Thunder Bay. In memory contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
