Mary Payne New Liskeard resident Mary Payne died suddenly at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on June 7, 2007. She was born in Barber Township on December 24, 1932 to Max Hartzke and Jane Brazier. Educated at Barber Township school house, she married Earl Payne at St. Paul’s United Church in New Liskeard on October 15, 1949. Mrs. Payne was a labourer, housewife and mother. She was predeceased by her husband Earl on April 11, 1998; son David; grandchildren Earl and Rachel and son-in-law Chico Marttila. She is survived by her children Richard (wife Louise), John (wife Judy), Josiah (wife Penny), Jane (husband Rick), Jeremiah (wife Muriel), James (wife Wanita), Ruth (husband Henry), Mary (husband Richard), Victoria (husband Gordon), Elizabeth and children Dylan and Kevin; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Ted Hartzke, Len Hartzke and Frank Hartzke; and sister-in-law Thomasin Hartzke. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel where the service was conducted June 11 by Reverend Frank Cummins. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from New Hamburg, Huntsville, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Elk Lake, Kenabeek, North Cobalt and New Liskeard.
