Joseph Edgar Plourde Passed away on / Décédé(e) le June 24, 2007 We regret to announce the sudden death of Edgar Plourde on Sunday June 24th at his home at Remi Lake. A lifetime resident of Kapuskasing, Mr. Plourde was self-employed and, earlier in his 55-year career, owned Plourde's Furniture store and later on established E. Plourde Upholstering and E. Plourde & Son Upholstering. Mr. Plourde was educated at Scollard Hall in North Bay and then at Ryerson in Toronto. Mr. Plourde is a former King's Scout, former school board trustee, former President of Le Club Richelieu, former 4th degree Knights of Columbus, former President of the Remi Lake Cottage Owners Association, Wharf Finger for Fisheries Canada and worked in numerous different capacities in his faith community of St. Patrick's church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and a dedicated Usher at 8:30 a.m. Mass every Sunday. But of the many hats he wore, he loved and enjoyed his responsibility and great devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife and great love of 53 years, Edith, six children, Anne-Marie Popadynetz (Tony) of Mississauga, Monique Plourde of Fauquier, Suzanne Plourde-Doran (Patrick), Lynne Plourde-Kelly (Robert) and David (Christine) all of Kapuskasing, Celine (Mike) of Cochrane, one brother, Gerard (Elizabeth) of Kapuskasing, two sisters, Rita Plourde of Calgary and Germaine Fortin of Thunder Bay, the very proud Papa of 15 grandchildren, Meaghan, Erin, Kristy, Kaira, Amie, Emma, Agnes, Mabel, Liam, Adam, Breanna, Brandon, Clara, Owen, and Kevin. He was predeceased by his parents, Delphine (nee Allard) and Ernest Plourde, two brothers, Valmont and Jean. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 26 at the Guenette Funeral Home from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday at his home, 3 Lefebvre Penisula, Moonbeam from 2 -4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The eucharistic celebration will be held on Thurday June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's church with Father Fernand Villeneuve officiating, burial to follow at the Kapuskasing cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Northern Corridor Children's Fund or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
