LAROUCHE, Fernand “Fern“ A. - In loving memory of Fernand “Fern“ A. Larouche, 70 years of Dowling, who passed away Wednesday evening, June 20th, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. He was born in Fabre, Quebec and married Lynne (Faubert) in 1960 in Sudbury. A well known and respected Dowling resident Fern had been a Heavy Equipment Operator at Falconbridge Ltd. for 30 years. He had been an active member of the Mine Mill Union fighting for improved working conditions and appropriate compensation for the efforts of the workers. A devout Roman Catholic he belonged to St. Stephen the Martyr Church in Dowling. During his life Fern's hardwork and leadership made a significant difference in the lives of people and the well being of the community. Fern had been awarded a lifetime membership in the Onaping Falls Lions Club due to his extraordinary effort with club projects including food drives, helping the less fortunate, organizing fundraising events and sitting as a member of the Easter Seals Nickel District Committee where he made sure the Easter Seals Kids and their families received the help and advocacy they needed. Fern well defined the Lion's motto “We Serve“ in helping others. He also had been a director with the Levack Credit Union. Fern received a Queen's Jubilee Award in recognition of his many good deeds. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, stain glass making and the outdoors. He will be remembered as a non-judgemental person whose unconditional love brought light to all he met. His wisdom and guidance made him a father figure to the larger community. The focus of Fern's life was his loving family who know he is now their guardian angel in Heaven. Beloved husband of Verland “Lynne“ Faubert of Dowling. Loving father of Anita Dubreuil (husband Richard) of Sudbury, Norm (wife Wendy) of Sudbury and Nicky Scott (husband Terry) of Whitby. Cherished grandfather of Brittany, Megan, Everett, Adrienne, Kenny and Matthew. Dear brother of Albert (wife Rachael) of Windsor, Genevieve Bouchard (husband Jocelyn) of Quebec City and the late Victor, Victorienne, and Alfred predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in St. Stephen the Martyr Church, Dowling, Ontario Monday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Onaping Falls Lions Club, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Onaping Falls Parishes Building Fund would be appreciated.
