LEONARD, Sister Anne Elizabeth (Sister Margaret Anne) A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario died in Pembroke on the 15th day of June, 2007 in the 62nd year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her religious community, John (Marlie) Leonard (nephew), other devoted nieces, nephews and relatives. Predeceased by her parents, John Leonard and Margaret Casey, her brothers, John, Joseph, and Francis, her sisters, Mary Catherine Hodgins and Margaret Rita McGrady. Sister Anne was born on August 1st 1916, in Toronto, Ontario. She entered the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, on September 11th, 1945, pronouncing her final vows on August 1, 1950. For nine years prior to entering the Grey Sisters community, Sister Anne was employed by Bell Telephone, where she held the position of Secretary to the Auditor of Receipts. This experience in the field of Business led her to a ministry in Business Offices at the Pembroke General Hospital, the Sault Ste. Marie General Hospital, Marianhill Residence in Pembroke, and St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa. Sister Anne was a tireless and dedicated worker during her many years in Business and Office Administration. In addition to earning certificates from the International Accountants Society, and from the University of Indiana in Hospital Accounting, Sister Anne found time for her favourite pastime, "music", earning a certificate from the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Following thirty-four years of service, Sister Anne officially retired in 1981. For the next twelve years, she worked part-time at Holy Cross Parish in Ottawa, as bookkeeper, and later as a volunteer. Due to failing health, Sister Anne transferred to Shalom Residence, Pembroke, in 2001. Resting at the Marguerite Centre, 700 Mackay Street in Pembroke on Monday, June 18th, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Evening prayer in the Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Resurrection in the Chapel on Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Columba's Cemetery, Pembroke, Ontario.
