RUZINDANA, Aimable Murenzi Aimable Murenzi Ruzindana passed away June 27, 2007, at the Ottawa General Hospital in the early morning after being stricken with severe and invasive forms of cancer. He leaves to mourn many family members, friends and colleagues throughout the world. His wife Laurence Munanayire and son Ovila and daughter O'lela will miss him greatly. He is also survived by his son Richard, who lives in Kigali. He is predeceased by his father, Edward (1982), as well as his brothers Philbert, Murenzi, and sister Rachel. He is survived by his mother Febronie Niyonambaza of Ottawa, his eldest brother, Ernest (Francoise) of Kigali, Vincent (Nadine) of Burundi, Ali (Lillian) of Ottawa, Claudette (Faustin) of Davis, California, and Liliane (Jimmy) of Ottawa. He had many, many nieces and nephews who will also miss his loving presence: Gael and Rachel; Cassandra, Ryan and Chesna; Noah and Perla; Arnel, Arianne, Arsell and Earvin; and Nylesh. Aimable was also very close to his many Aunts and Uncles. He was very close to Jean (Sarah) in Kigali, Dave (Made) in Paris and Alphonse (Beathe) in Gitarama, Rwanda. Aimable was born on September 17th, 1957 in Gitarama, Rwanda. His family left their home in 1959 to live in Burundi, Zaire (now Congo), returning to Bururndi until he left Africa. Aimable came to Canada in1987. He and Laurence married in 1989 in Ottawa. Aimable studied at the University of Moncton and at the Department of History at the University of Ottawa. He completed his MA in February 2003. He also completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering from La Cit Collgiale in 1994. Aimable worked at many places while going to school and had many stories to share and experiences as well. In 2002, he began working with CDCI Inc., and in that time, he has been a leader, mentor and friend to many. Those who worked with him know him to be the best of colleagues - someone who would be the first to help with any event and who always had a smile. With his passing, as one colleague noted, the world has lost a benevolent force. Aimable embodied his name. He was kind, generous, gentle, caring, loving, respectful, tolerant and all the qualities one desires in a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and colleague. He was a patriarch in his community and always found time for anyone who needed help or advice. Those who knew him loved being with him. The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre and donations may be made in his name to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The family would like to thank all those who work in the west wing of the fifth floor for their amazing dedication to their patients. The nurses, doctors, everyone helped so much through this painful and challenging time from when Aimable entered the hospital in early April. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 30th at Ste-Famille Catholic Church, 152 Glenora Street, Ottawa at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Beechwood Cemetery.
