PHILLIPS, KATRINA JEAN (LYONS) Born Oct 4 1960, Died June 18 2007 A Family Remembrance No one gets to choose how we enter or leave this world. A riot of noise and light, a warm soft voice and we are cradled in our mother's arms. Trina fought a courageous decade long battle with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (a liver disorder). In the end a liver transplant eluded her. She drifted peacefully to sleep cradled in those same arms at the DECH the morning of June 18th. How to convey in words a life. It is impossible. First steps, first words. A faded black and white photo reveals an angel in a pretty white frock with sparkling eyes and a beaming smile. A million other memories: the first day of school, childhood friends. We fast forward to a self assured young woman riding her horse, Gremlin. An accomplished equestrian accepting a trophy. A glimpse of a willowy teenager on a stage belting out a slightly off key version of "Blue Moon She grows, marries and has three beautiful boys of her own. Later in life she transforms, she becomes the first female Chaplain for Bridges of Canada Ministries. She ministers to those in need and finds a higher purpose, giving her strength and inner peace. On the morning of June 18th Trina passed on, but her spark lives in all those she touched. Her family, her adoptive family at the Smythe Street Church. Those who heard her words of hardship, redemption, hope and love. All past and present friends. We will always remember your sweet smile. Trina is survived by her devoted husband, Bev Wade Phillips; three sons, Wade, Jeremy and Kyle; loving father and mother, Marvin and Evelyn Lyons of Doaktown; brother, Anthony (Juhu) Lyons; three sisters, Tracy (Todd) Beal, Trudy (Selwyn) Donnelly and Tessa (Michael)Storey; parents-in-law, Jean and Chuck Mailing; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Smythe Street Cathedral on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 1 pm. Interment will be held at Doaktown United Baptist Church Cemetery at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Liver Foundation or Bridges of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
