McLAUGHLIN, PEARL MARY - Pearl Mary McLaughlin (nee Kirkpatrick) of Central Blissville, NB passed away on June 26, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton after a brief illness. Born on May 7, 1920 on the Kirkpatrick family farm in Wirral, NB, she was the fourth child of six to the late Abner and Mary (nee Eastwood) Kirkpatrick. Pearl spent her early years working on the farm and attending school, Sunday school and church at the Wirral Baptist Church. On September 9, 1939, Pearl married Byron McLaughlin of Central Blissville, NB, and they had six children together. Pearl was very gifted in music and took fewer than 14 piano lessons before she began playing at church services. Throughout her life she entertained at many variety shows around the community by playing piano, accordion and the harmonica. She played for many weddings and funerals and was a dedicated church organist and assistant organist for over 25 years. She was a member of the Patterson Settlement Historical Society, the Central Blissville Bicentennial Committee, the Patterson United Church and choir, a past member of the Central Blissville Women's Institute and the Women's Missionary Society. Pearl was a hard worker and an excellent role model. She cooked many delicious meals and was famous for her home-baked beans. Pearl will be sadly missed by daughters Ida Nason (Ross) of Fredericton Junction, NB, June Deegan (Michael) of St. Albert, AB, Debbie Davenport (Randy) of Central Blissville, NB, and son Robert McLaughlin (Kathy) of Upper Tracy, NB. Pearl was predeceased by her loving husband Byron in 1992, and two sons Billie (age 13 years) and Harry (age 8 years) who both died in a canoe accident in June 1953. Her grandchildren, Phillip, Lisa, Andrew, Noel, Steven, Crystal, Jason and Michael, four great grand- children, and many nieces and nephews, will all miss Pearl, with her encouraging smile and warm personality. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being predeceased by her infant brother, Weyman; brothers, Weyman Maurice and Parker (Bud); sisters, Evelyn and Beulah and their spouses. Visitation will be at Sunbury Funeral Home in Central Blissville from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm on Thursday, June 28th.
