LAIDLAW, Sharon Elaine Sienko - It is with great sadness the family announces that Sharon Elaine Sienko Laidlaw passed away much too young on Tuesday July 17th, 2007. Beloved wife of Darren, and stepmother to Sean (16), Stephen (14) and Sarah (12), all of Brantford, Ontario. Sharon is survived by her parents, Donna and Richard Sienko currently living in Paris, Ontario and her immediate family; sister Susan, husband Dr. James Thomas, daughters Morgan and Sydney of Portland OR; sister Stephanie, her husband David Bird, daughter Kendall of Pickering, ON and brother Stephen of Toronto, ON. Daughter- in-law to Louis and Mary Laidlaw of Brantford, ON. Born on March 17, 1965, the second child of Donna and Richard Sienko, Sharon was raised in Toronto and attended school in Agincourt, graduating as an Ontario Scholar from L'Amoreaux High School. Her passions during school were music and sports where she played a number of instruments in various school bands and excelled in field hockey as a goalie at the provincial level. Sharon graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1988 with a degree in Honors Music Education and in 1989 completed her Bachelor of Education degree from Queen's University in Kingston. Sharon received a Masters of Education Degree in 2001 from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Australia. Sharon taught at a number of schools in Brantford Ontario (former Brant County Board of Education and current Grand Erie District School Board) primarily in special education roles. In 2001, she became a Special Education Consultant and in 2005, co-ordinator. In addition to her duties, Sharon taught education courses at the Brantford campus of both Nipissing and Brock Universities. Sharon was passionate about everything including her family, education, sports and her faith. For these things she will always be remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank the staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton and at the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford for their care and support during Sharon's battle with cancer. Sharon is resting at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St, Brantford, ON. Visitation is on Thursday July 19th, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Friday July 20th from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held at the YES Church, 305 West St. Brantford, ON at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Sharon has requested donations to a trust fund for Sean, Stephen and Sarah to support their post secondary education.
