SCHIAVO, Albert - (1923-2007) - Our Hero, left us peacefully on July 17th, 2007, surrounded by his beloved wife and devoted children. It is with broken hearts that the family announces the crossing over of a dear husband and father. Dad will always be remembered for his colourful sense of humour and his caring and relentless devotion to his children and to his wife of 58 years, whom he nicknamed his “Million Dollar Baby“. Dad had a fond love for music and dance which began in his early teens, after he entered his first jitter-bug competition. This love of dance filtered down through his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Fanny (Veltri), his children Yvonne (Jon Jeffrey), Jim (Shirley), Marilyn (Kevin Sweeney), Lorraine (Greg Letts), Abby J. (Debbie) and adopted son Paul Blahey (Jennifer). He will be sadly missed by his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Rich), Chad (Jenn), Ryan (Cheryl), Vanessa, Savanna, Dominic, Nicholas, Gina Marie, Mario and Sabrina, and 3 great- grandsons Dante, Sergio and Kaeden. He will be lovingly remembered by his only sister, Irene (Pat McGirr) and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, brother in-laws and sisters in-laws and friends whose lives he touched deeply. His kindness, understanding and love will be cherished and missed by all. He was predeceased by his parents Eugenio (Jimmy) & Yvonne Schiavo and three brothers. Dad was an entrepreneur and businessman, having achieved success in numerous ventures such as the North Bay Printing Shop and the famous Delmar Restaurant which he owned and operated for 45 years until he and his wife retired in 1988. He was a friend and confidante to many, sharing his motto “You can do anything you put your mind to“ and making believers of all. He thrived on organizing special occasions and family gatherings, especially New Year's Eve parties. He was “the Life of the party“. Dad was an avid sports fan, having cheered his beloved Delmar ladies slo-pitch team to many victories, and also had a passion for hockey. He was a true red, white and blue Montreal Canadiens' fan. He opened his home to all, especially other Hab fans, having enough food and drink for everyone. Visitation will be at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, on Friday July 20th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The celebration of his life will be held at St. Rita's Church, Saturday July 21st at 11:00 am. If desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Albert. 10748576
