WALLACE, BESSIE M. Peacefully at home, with her son and grandsons, Derek and Duane at her bedside, Bessie M. Wallace, wife of the late Fred A. Wallace, Burtts Corner, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2007 in her 93rd year. She was born in Lr. Hainesville on Feb. 6, 1915 to the late John H. Brown and Alice (Billings) Brown. Bessie, along with her husband were two of the founding members of the Central Hainesville Cemetery Association of which she had the position of secretary-treasurer for 33 years. In their earlier years they operated Wallace's Canteen in Burtts Corner where she was famous for her doughnuts and variety of home-baked cookies and pies. She was the oldest member of the Burtts Corner Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Fred(erick) Wallace of Burtts Corner; a daughter-in-law, Joan Wallace, Fredericton; grandchildren, Derek Wallace, Duane Wallace both of Burtts Corner, Brian (Carol) Wallace, Brenda (Gregg) Wilson, Beth Wallace, all of Fredericton and Brent (Lisa) Wallace of Stittsville, ON; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Palmer of Millville and Marion Dillon of Burtts Corner; a brother, Allison (Doreen) Brown of Gatineau, QC; sister-in-law, Bertie Jewett of Burtts Corner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Bessie was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1997, her son Frank in 1996, sister Alma and her husband Loomis Hawkins, brothers Chalma Billings and his wife Bertie and his second wife Ruby, Elwood Brown and his wife Hazel and his second wife Margaret, infant brothers Clifford and Lewis, and her in-laws, Charlie and his wife Lola Wallace, Lewis and his wife Marion Wallace, Dean Wallace, Fred Jewett, Stanley Dillon and Clowes Palmer. Visitation will take place at the Burtts Corner Baptist Church, 1034 Route 104, Burtts Corner on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the church on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer officiating. Interment will take place in the Central Hainesville Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers, Janet Yeo, Phyllis Morehouse, Cheryl Brewer and Heidi Johnson. Active pallbearers will be Earl Brown, Edward Hawkins, Frank Kittridge Jr., Charles Wallace, Stephen Wallace and Wayne Billings. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Bessie, the family has suggested the Central Hainesville Cemetery Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
