Gerald Allison "Pappy" Ogilvie 1928-2007 RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, NB - Gerald Allison Ogilvie, 78, of Riverside-Albert, N.B. passed away peacefully with his loving and supportive family by his side on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Moncton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Gerald was born in Burlington, N.S. the son of the late Earl and Ida (Meisner) Ogilvie. He served as a Flight Officer in the RCAF. He last worked as an Air Traffic Controller before retiring. After his retirement he took carpentry and built his own house and he was an avid gardener as well, taking great pride in his gardens and the many trees and bushes he planted on his property, he loved the outdoors. He was well known and active in his community, helping with many projects. He was a member of the Anglican Parish of Hillsborough and Riverside. Gerald was a quiet man with a very caring way about him. The most important thing to him was his family, he treasured times spent with his loving and devoted wife Kit, his children and precious grandchildren. His face would light up whenever his grandchildren came to visit. He took the time to be there whenever he was needed. He was truly a beloved husband, father and Pappy. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and will live on in the hearts of his family forever. He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Eva "Kit" Ogilvie; daughters, Heather Steeves (Winston) of Riverside-Albert; Gayle Ogilvie (Marla Rafuse) of Bridgewater, N.S.; son, Graeme Ogilvie (Valerise) of Dieppe; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Keirstead (Michelle), Andrea Ogilvie, Luc Ogilvie and Isabelle Ogilvie; also by a great grandson, Dylan Gerald Keirstead. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Arnold and Neil. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home where the family will be having private visitation. However everyone is welcome to join them for a Memorial Service to celebrate Gerald's life at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 2pm with Rev. Rob Salloum officiating. Family flowers only please. For those who wish, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital - Ongology Unit or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the Staff of the Moncton Hospital for the excellent care given to Gerald and for the overwhelming support and kindness shown to his family. It will never be forgotten.
