MILLER, Robert J. - Mr. Robert James Miller passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday February 6, 2007. Much loved husband of Barbara Miller and dear father of Carol McIlroy (John), Bob Miller Jr. (Kim) and Wendy Miller (Jim Dault). Devoted grandpa and papa of Bob, Tom and Martha (Justin), Stephanie, Rob, Eric and Daniel, Alex and Laurel. Great grandpa of Kelsie, Haylie, Judah and Noah. Brother-in-law of Jean Lathwell, Ina Govan, Joan and Stew Webster and Edna Miller. Bob was born in Kent County, son of Robert Miller and Mabel Oliver, youngest brother of Margaret, Oliver and Ross. He attended South Collegiate in London, Ontario and the University of Western Ontario graduating in 1946. Bob served as a Captain in the Irish Regiment of Canada during the Second World War leading an anti-tank platoon in the Italian campaign. He moved to Stratford in 1948 joining Imperial Furniture as Vice- President of Sales. He later established Robert J. Miller Manufacturers' Agency. A Past - President of the Rotary Club of Stratford and club member since 1953, Bob relished the opportunities he had through Rotary to serve children with special needs. An avid golfer and football enthusiast, Bob was also a lifelong birdwatcher and naturalist. He was named Honorary Keeper of the Swans by Stratford City Council in 1984 in recognition of his service and dedication to the well-being of the Swans of the Avon River. He was a past member of the Stratford Parks Board and the Upper Thames Conservation Authority. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday February 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Cheryl-Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa will officiate. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Easter Seal Society or to the Rotary Respite House through the funeral home (519) 271- 7411. 10536722
