NIXON, James Ross - passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on April 17th, 2007. Ross was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather, a loyal brother and a devoted son. He was a trusted friend and a wise man. He was blessed with common sense. He was an entrepreneur and an honest and respected businessman. He was a hunter and fisher. He loved the forest and the lakes. He was a generous man. He was a man of faith, believed in God and loved and supported his church. He served his country in the Second World War and his community in many ways. He was very fortunate. Ross was married to two wonderful women, Kathryn Norine Nixon (nee Campbell) from 1950 to 1984 and Linda Nixon (nee Greig) from 1988 to the date of his passing. Both Kathryn and Linda loved Ross and were devoted to him. They were wonderful wives, friends and supporters. Ross is survived by Linda, (and her children Carrie and Cameron Strangway), his son Richard (and his wife Catherine, and their children Gillian, Ruari, John and Kathryn), his son Bruce (and his wife Ann, and their children Robin, Bay and Jamie), his daughter Janice (and her children Lindsay and Carla) and his son Donald (and his wife Patricia, and their children Elizabeth, Michael and David) and by his brother Jack (and his wife Betty) and by his sister Audrey and by his nephews and nieces Jim Webb, Jane Rogers, John Nixon, Karen Nixon, Patsy Morris, Peter Campbell, Gayle Campbell, Wendy Campbell and Randy Campbell. Friends may call at McClelland & Slessor Funeral Home, Jennett Chapel, 152 Bradford Street, Barrie on Friday, April 20th, 2007 between 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. (wheelchair accessible) A celebration of Ross's life will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the new Emmanuel Baptist Church, on Essa Road, south of Mapleview Drive (4120 Salem Road, Innsifil), Barrie, Ontario (wheelchair accessible). In lieu of flowers, donations to the RVH Hospital Fund in Barrie (705-739-5600) would be gratefully accepted.
