Robert John Clarkson August 26, 1934 - November 3, 2008 - CLARKSON – The passing of Robert John, age 74 years of Saskatoon, SK., occurred on Monday November 3rd, 2008 at Prairie Springs Personal Care Home, Saskatoon, SK. With his family by his side after a very lengthy battle with MS, cancer, heart and finally lung disease Robert is at last at peace. Robert was pre-deceased by his parents, Jack and Juliette; and son Reginald. He is survived by his loving wife Donna; sons Gilbert (Patricia) of Cupar, SK; Jack (Tracy) of Regina, SK; and daughter Audrey (Al) Cowie of Saskatoon, SK; Seven grandchildren, Destiny, Ryan, Nicole, Andrew, Stephanie, Laura, and Christopher; Two great-grandchildren, Coleman and Kolbi. His four sisters; Theresa Saunders of Saskatoon, SK; Frances (Reg) Stevens of Edmonton, AB; Bernardine (Jack) Lindsay of Saskatoon, SK; and Sr. Marie Clarkson O.L.M. of Toronto, ON, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was born in Prince Albert in 1934. By the age of 20 Robert was an apprentice electrician and it was at this time that he met and married the love of his life, Donna Marie Hedstrom. He enjoyed a long career with SaskPower until forced to retire early after 33 years due to health issues. Along with his job and family, Robert’s greatest passion was for horses. One horse led to the development of his dream acreage, where he was content for more then three decades. A vigil for Robert will be held on Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with both services from Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon, SK.) with Reverend Fr. Ken Beck celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (101- 440 2nd Avenue North) on behalf of his granddaughter.
