Mr. Edward 'Ted' Francis O'Hara March 24, 1925 - November 10, 2008 - Ted O’Hara (Edward Francis) 1925 – 2008 Our dear husband and dad passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008 with his loving family by his side, at the age of 83. He married his sweetheart, Marie McAvoy in Port Hope, Ontario in 1948, then two years later moved west. They farmed in the Arelee district until establishing their permanent family home and farm in the Grandora area in 1957. There they owned and operated an efficient mixed farming operation, keeping safety in mind at all times. Dad was a farmer through and through. He loved all aspects of farming from seeding the crop to harvesting, haying, machinery and with great stewardship of the land. Commitment to his wife and family was first and foremost to Dad. He loved our family gatherings and missed us when we weren’t near him. Dad found strength and hope in God and was a committed Catholic. Later in life his interests included traveling, senior’s dances, carpet bowling, calling dances, parades and social gatherings. How proud he was to participate and win medals in the Sask. Seniors’ Games. Dad enjoyed being on the executive of several seniors’ clubs. Finding courage and strength Dad met the challenge of overcoming a leg amputation while always maintaining a positive outlook. We love you, Dad. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Marie; eight children, Maureen (Jim d.2005), Jim (Deb), Colleen, Gary (Ruby d.1997), Denis (Elaine), Loreen (Bill d.2006), Joe (Della), Glenn (Rose); and his loving eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sisters, Eileen O’Hara, Lorraine Clark, Marie Smith; brother, Joe O’Hara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by an infant son, John Vincent; parents, Francis and Kathleen O’Hara; brothers, Vince and Pat O’Hara; and sister, Alice Cleary. Dad was very appreciative of his caregivers to which the family would like to thank. Vigil for Ted will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, 1202 Avenue O South, Saskatoon, SK. Rite of Committal will follow in the Garden of The Old Rugged Cross at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Saskatchewan Division, 104 – 2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5Z5; Cette adresse e-mail est protégée contre les robots spammeurs.
