Mr. Edward "Eddie" McDonald March 12, 1920 - November 12, 2008 - Passed away peacefully on November 12, 2008 in his 88th year at Riverside Place. Born March 12, 1920 in North Bay, Ontario. Beloved husband of Anne (nee Sikich) for 59 years. Son of the late Michael and Harriet (nee Lachance). Loving father of Michael and fiance Regina of Mississauga, Cathy and Denis Morand, and Joan and Gary Laporte. Loving grandpa of David Morand (1997), Suzanne Morand, Natalie Laporte, Lise Morand, and Andrew Laporte. Survived by his sister Mona and John Bennett and predeceased by brothers Wib McDonald, Gordon and Alice McDonald, and sisters Hattie and Magnus Hall, Hillie and Hardy Sanderson, and Beth and James Demasek. Will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Eddie was a proud veteran of WWII and served overseas with the Saskatchewan Rifles as a member of The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment from 1941-1945. After his return to Windsor and following his father's example he became a train fireman and later a locomotive engineer for the Canadian National Railway. He retired after 35 years of service. Eddie was also a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Bishop John T. Kidd Council 4924. Deepest thanks to the staff at Riverside Place for their kind and compassionate care. Visiting Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Rd. Tecumseh, (519-735-2830). Parish Prayers and Knights of Columbus Prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. Visitation to resume at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Saturday November 15, 2008 after 10:15 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Dennis Whilhelm will celebrate. Cremation to follow. Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. A tree will be planted in memory of Edward in the Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will take place September 2009. All are welcome. Share a memory at
