Johannes Arnoldus "John" KLEIN May 3, 1927 - November 13, 2008 - KLEIN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and Opa, Johannes Arnoldus "John" Klein, age 81, of Hantsport, on Thursday, November 13th, 2008, as a result of a motor vehicle accident at Highway 101, near Exit 8, Hantsport/Mount Denson. Born in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, on May 3rd,1927, he was the son of the late Johannes "Jan" and Johanna Klein. He immigrated to Canada with his wife, Laura and two small children in 1956. He was employed at various jobs until 1960, when he settled in Hantsport while working for the Fundy Gypsum Company. This was followed by 27 years of service with Minas Basin Pulp & Power. John was a devoted father and Opa, and enjoyed sharing his homemade raisin bread, grape jellies and apple pies with family and friends. He also loved to treat his family to homemade Olliebollen at New Years. His daily bicycle rides about the town also gave him great pleasure, but the most pleasure came from spending time with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Johanna Jodrey, Margaret Klein, Annette (Kevin) Caldwell, all of Hantsport; his sons, Hans (Bonnie) and Robert (Kathy), both of Coldbrook; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Jodrey, Michael Jodrey, Kelly Klein, Stephen Klein, Jamie Henderson, Michelle Henderson, Laura Caldwell, Lindsay Caldwell, Rebecca DeCoffe, Cassidy Klein, Benjamin Klein; 9 great grandchildren, Chloe Jodrey, Evan Jodrey, Kristen Jodrey, Julia Jodrey, Lexie Henderson, Sam Henderson, Cameron Henderson, Jensen Jodrey, and Emma Jodrey; sister, Nannie van der Pol, The Netherlands. Besides his parents, Johannes “Jan” and Johanna Klein; he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, the former Laura Kwakernaak (2002); sister, Coby Jansen (Surrey, BC). Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 16th, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 17th, 2008, in St. James United Church, Hantsport, with the Rev. Glennis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
