ROSE, Elva Joyce January 2, 1918 - November 14, 2008 - R.N., 90, of Parkland Estates, Riverview passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 at George Dumont Hospital in Moncton surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Maude (Callaghan) Hart. Elva spent most of her life in Saint John West where she raised her three sons, David (Leslie), Riverview; Ronald (Elizabeth), Rothesay; and Gordon (Patricia), Halifax. She trained and worked as a nurse at the Saint John General Hospital and later the Saint John Regional Hospital, and was a member of St. Mark’s United Church, Saint John West, and an adherent of St. Paul’s United Church, in Riverview. Elva is also survived by Jean (Ray) Myers, of Halifax and their children, Sharon and Shelley; brother, Ralph in Guysborough and several nieces and nephews. Elva will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Andrea, Stephanie, Scott, Jennifer, Gillian, Kimberly, Peter and Lauren, and by her great grandchildren, David, Ben, Adam, Lily, Noah, Sage and Alexander, who all affectionately referred to her as “Special Grammie”. She was predeceased by her first husband, Herman ("Pete") Rose, her second husband, Alex Rose, and by a sister, Elsie, and brother, Willis. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery prior to a memorial service on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home, with reception to follow.
