Mrs. Frances Lozinsky April 26, 1917 - November 17, 2008 - LOZINSKY – Frances. In the early hours of November 17, 2008 our mother and grandmother was called by the Lord to her heavenly rest. Born to Nicholas and Barbara Owchar on April 26, 1917, she grew up at Laniwci, Saskatchewan where she met and married Walter Lozinsky on September 29, 1936. Together they farmed and ran the Laniwci Post Office. In 1979 they retired and moved to Vonda. Following Walter’s death in July 1995, Frances moved to Saskatoon where she enjoyed living at the St. George’s Senior Citizens’ Apartments. Being right across the street from the Cathedral enabled her to go to Mass every morning. In 2002, Frances moved to St. Joseph’s Home where she resided until her death. She was passionate about two things in her life – her Lord and her family. Frances had wonderful memories of playing softball in her teenage years. Bingo nights at the Vonda Golden Age Club and later at the Apartments were a must. While being of modest means, she never failed to be able to provide a wonderful feast for all and especially for those who dropped in. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Walter; her sons, Joseph (1953), Myron (1986) and Julius (2008); as well as her siblings, Harry, Andrew, Mike (Audrey), Mary (Joe) Olchowy, Victoria Walker, Tillie (Myron) Lucyk, and Ann (Bill) Philipenko. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Mike, Carl, Paul, Peter (Ann); and her sisters-in-law, Josephine (Alexander) Kurant, Katherine (Peter) Zary, and Verna (Nick) Stadnyk. Mourning her loss are her daughter, Orlene (Gerry); daughter-in-law, Nadia; and three grandchildren, of whom she was always very proud, Debbie Ruth, Randy and David (Santa). Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Mary Owchar, Jean Lozinsky and Ann Lozinsky. Prayers for Frances will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Both services to be conducted at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George, 214 Avenue M South, Saskatoon. Interment will take place at the Laniwci Cemetery, Laniwci district, SK. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences to the family may be sent via www.parkfuneral.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Derryl Hildebrandt of PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL, 244-2103.
