Mom was predeceased by her husband, Dmytro in 1976; her brother-in-law, Steve Harach; and her parents, John and Anna Pacalujko. Mom was born March 12, 1921 in Skalat, Ternopol, Ukraine, immigrating to Canada in 1937 and married Dmytro in 1940. Mom and Dad raised the family in the Hafford area where they were successful farmers and active members of the community. They moved to Saskatoon in 1970, but remained active on the farm. In the city Mom worked at St. Joseph’s Home, The Sheraton Hotel, and finally retired with many years of service from Canarama Pharmacy. Mom was strongly devoted to her Catholic faith and drew strength and solace from it to do the many things that she loved. She enjoyed cooking and baking and spent hours preparing meals for friends and family. Other hobbies included crocheting, Ukrainian cross-stitching and gardening. Mom travelled extensively visiting places such as Alberta, Florida, and Colorado. She made several trips back home to Ukraine to visit immediate family in Kiev, L’viv and Ternopol. Mom was kind and generous to everyone giving of herself and her time to others, but her generosity was immensely apparent to her family who experienced her giving nature first-hand. She lived out her final years back at St. Joseph’s home where she received exceptional care from the Sisters and staff in a facility where she continued to experience the essence of her faith that was the foundation of her life. The family would like to thank the Sisters and staff at St. Joseph’s Home, her family doctor, Dr. Roy Chernoff, and Dr. Moodley and the staff of St. Paul’s Hospital for their kindness during Mom’s final days.
