HOADLEY, Clarence J. - With deep sadness, the family of Clarence J. Hoadley announces the passing of this wonderful man in his 84th year, at Bluewater Health Mitton Street on the 26th of November 2008. Clare was the loving husband of Ethel Hoadley (2005) for 56 years. Devoted father to Diane and Ed and his wife Corinne Hoadley. He was also the beloved grandfather of Melissa, Joel and Tyler Hoadley. Clarence was predeceased by his wife Ethel and sisters Nora (Bill), Grace (Herbert) and Doreen (Joe). Clare is also mourned by numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. Born in Gladstone, Manitoba, Clare traveled to Sarnia as a young man to live with his guardian. He met his wife Ethel at Kenwick on the Lake. Clare spent many years working at Fiberglass, retiring in 1988. Never one to enjoy idleness, he started his own landscaping company and worked well into his seventies. Clare was an extremely capable man, able to fix and build anything. He enjoyed being active, visiting his family and friends, gardening, working on his house and yard projects and watching sports. In his later years, he looked forward to his Thursday night dinners out with his long-time family friends Dorothy and Duncan McKellar. Clare also took dialysis treatments in Sarnia and enjoyed having that time to chat with all of the wonderful nurses who took care of him there. Clare was a generous father and grandfather. Beloved by all who got to know him, Clare will be remembered for his amazing strength; he never felt sorry for himself; never complained, preferring to find the goodness and humour each time he was faced with a health setback or difficult situation. We will also miss his dry sense of humour and the enormous love he showed for all of his family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 1885 London Line, Sarnia on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Kidney Foundation. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. 11339322
