SINCLAIR, Dr. J.N. (Norm), MD, FRCS - After a lengthy battle with a series of physical challenges, Norm passed away at his home on November 4th surrounded by his family. Well-known and highly regarded by peers and patients alike, Norm practiced as a General Surgeon in Orillia for 40 years. Norm was born and raised in Copper Cliff, Ontario, the son of Harold and Ann Sinclair. He married Ann (nee Marren) in 1946 in Toronto before graduating from medicine at the University of Ottawa. They moved to Germany where Norm served as a doctor in the Canadian Armed Forces, and then to Detroit, Michigan where he completed his residency as a General Surgeon. By the time Norm and Ann moved to Orillia in 1960, they had eight children. Their final two children were born in Orillia. Norm leaves behind Ann and children Sandy Merelaid (Juri), Lynne (Vic Schroter), Norman (Lynn), Sharon, Michael (Carol), Mary-Lou Duffy (Russ Anderson), Carol Anthony (Dan), Susan and Shannon Lecour (David). Sadly, he was predeceased by his eldest son Patrick (Mary Burnel). Norman is survived by sixteen wonderful grandchildren. The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care provided to Norm by SMH staff and doctors, especially Dr. Josiah Lowry. Thanks also to Happy at Home and Bayshore Nursing for their constant presence and support in his final weeks. Friends and relatives may call at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia (705)325-2231 from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday.
