JOHNSON, Margaret Gladys - In loving memory of Margaret Gladys Johnson who passed away at Extendicare York on Sunday, November 16th, 2008. Margaret was in her 95th year. Margaret was the beloved mother of Aloma of Sudbury and Kenneth (wife Pierrette) of Calgary; and was the cherished grandmother of Marc (wife Marie) of Houston, Mathieu and David of Toronto and Emilie of Calgary. Family was always first on Margaret's agenda and she took a great deal of pride in each of their accomplishments. With great sadness in December of 2006, she was predeceased by Lester, her loving husband of 65 years. Born in Bethune, Saskatchewan in 1914. Margaret was the youngest daughter of Thomas and Matilda Jane Vessie. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Roy of Burnaby, British Columbia and her sister Matilda Janet (Hope) of Ormstown, Quebec. Margaret was a highly respected business woman and gardener, who always took on extra tasks willingly and performed them with a lot of style and excellence. Her business records were as meticulous as her garden was well-tended. Hand-crafted gifts of love, in the forms of sewing, knitting and needle-point were much admired and treasured by her family and friends. An avid gardener, Margaret's work was held in high esteem by local gardeners and her wonderful garden was featured in newspaper pictures and articles, on many garden tours, a few times as a teaching tool at the college level, and was even used in a television interview-presentation recorded in her garden concerning her choice of plants, her tips on garden maintenance and the use of rocks effectively in a garden landscape. The winner of many trophies and awards over the years, she was an Honorary Life Member of the Sudbury Horticultural Society and extremely proud of it. Her Prairie roots have certainly shone throughout her life. Margaret will be remembered with much love and respect by her family and friends for her many accomplishments, her superior work ethics and her sense of humour. She loved fun! As her children, we will fondly remember our Mother for all she has taught us about what really matters in life, for the loving memories she has created and for the precious times that we have shared. In lieu of flowers, please honour our Mum with a donation to The Sudbury Horticultural Society. Our family wishes to thank the staff of the Third Floor at Extendicate York for their excellent care of our mother. In our eyes, the warm and loving atmosphere you provide makes York a leader. Your kindness, respect and love were always appreciated. A private family service has been held. Arrangements entrusted to LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME. Donations or messages of condolence available online at www.lougheed.org . 11324115
