WHEELDON, Marguerite (Ruch) - Passed away quietly on November 23, 2008, in her 92nd year, at Portal Village Retirement Home. Marguerite was a devoted and loving wife of the late Arthur Wheeldon (1987), a greatly loved and devoted mother of Allen (Joanne) Wheeldon and of Cheryl Wheeldon, a loving “grandma“ of Charlene (Lorne) McMillan of St. Catharines and of Alex Wheeldon, a great grandmother of Aaron, Amanda and Marissa. Also a very dear sister of Kathleen (Ed Hardman) Jeffries of Grand Island, New York and of Florence (Bruce) McIntyre of Port Colborne, and a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary (Nora) Ruch of Bethel, by brothers William (Rose) Meyers, Edward (Mabel) Meyers, George (Gloena) Ruch, Walter (Dot) Ruch and by sisters Marie (Babe) Thomas, Agnes (Al) Millar and by a nephew Carl (Mary) Meyers. She loved her family and her home and leaves us with many cherished memories. Marguerite was an active member of Central United Church- choir mother of all her “girls“, Sunday school teacher, active on church council, elder and president/life member of the U.C.W. She initiated and put on the monthly senior's luncheons at Central United church for several years. For 25 years she was an avid and successful curler and games chairperson of the Port Colborne curling club. She was also active with the Canadian Cancer Society as “service to patient“ chairperson for many years. Born in Stevensville, she grew up in Bethel and lived the remainder of her life in Port Colborne, residing her last years at Portal Village Retirement Home, where she was lovingly cared for by all the staff. Our thanks and heart-felt appreciation to you all. The family will receive relatives and friends at the PORT COLBORNE CHAPEL of the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOMES 135 Clarence St. on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church on Thursday November 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to take place at Oakwood Cemetery and a reception to follow at Central United Church.
