McCLUSKY, Lois Yvonne (nee Weissgerber) 1924 - 2008 For her seven children, family and friends, Lois leaves a legacy of passion for literature, the arts, a travelers' curiosity, and boundless energy for sports and volunteering. She married the love of her life, J.B., and together they raised their family in Toronto. At sixty-five, Lois moved to Calgary and created a new life rich with friends she made through volunteer work with the LunchBox Theatre, Knox United Church and the Glenbow Museum. She made friends at the Calgary Historical Society, the Chinese Canadian Society, book, hiking and church clubs, and through political campaigns. A typical Lois day would be to volunteer at 6:00 a.m. at the Knox "Inn From the Cold" program for homeless people, followed by a swim at the YMCA and then off with one of her outdoor clubs for a day hike. Upon returning to the city she would meet friends for an evening at the symphony. On her last day, it was a sign from heaven that the name of her attending nurse was "J.B.". We know that daddy was escorting her to heaven for a glass of white wine with a side of ice. Her family and friends love her dearly and thank her for her steadfast love and friendship. A celebration of her excellent life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, at Knox United Church, at 506 Fourth Street S.W., Calgary. Join us after for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knox United Church. With all of our love, Farewell Lois. Published in the Calgary Herald on 11/27/2008
