BECKERLEG, Thomas Miller (Tommy) June 26, 1922 - November 25, 2008 Thomas Beckerleg passed away on November 25, 2008 at Rockyview Hospital. Tom was the son of Thomas Arthur and Mary Ann Beckerleg. He was born in Calgary where he resided his entire life. He married the love of his life, Lillian Vieda Odegard, May 13, 1950 and Tom remained a loyal and loving husband until her sudden passing on May 17, 2008. Tom operated his own Delivery Business prior to serving in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946. He obtained his Tradesmen's Qualifications while in the Military. He worked for the Department of Defense where he remained until he retired in 1982. Tom was a passionate Square Dancer. He also Called and participated in numerous Clubs and Associations. Tom travelled with Lill and danced everywhere they went, including the US, England, Norway, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. He was a proud participant at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988, dancing in the opening ceremonies. Tom (with Lill) did extensive volunteering at various Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Lodges over the years. He was energetic and caring, often lending a hand wherever needed. He is survived by his sons Norm (Jerine) and Rick (Marg), his grandchildren Jennifer and Jonathan and by his sister Mary Secker of New Zealand and brothers Jim and Chuck (Anne) of Calgary, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at CHR Seniors' South Home Care and the Doctors and staff at the Rockyview Hospital Unit 74. Your caring and compassion was comforting in our time of need. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend P.H. (Scotty) Burrill officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Heritage, Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME and CEMETERY, 1605 - 100 Street S.E.
