KENDALL 2008-11-30 Isabella (Belle) Kendall, age 93 years of West Amelia Street, passed away at St. Joseph‘s Hospital on Friday, November 28, 2008. Belle was born in Fort William on March 27, 1915, daughter of John and Annie Laing Grant. She was educated at Francis Street School and FWCI and then trained as a Registered Nurse at McKellar Hospital, graduating in 1937. Belle worked as an R.N. at McKellar Hospital and in private duty and then for many years in public health with the District Health Unit, retiring in 1975. She was a life long member of St. Andrew‘s Presbyterian Church. She was married to Rod Kendall in 1940 and together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. She was predeceased by husband Rod in 1998, infant son John Philip in 1947, sister Martha Knox and brothers: Allan, Jack and Rod Grant. Belle is survived by two sons Gary (Shirley) of Toronto and Gregg (Debbie) of Thunder Bay; four grandchildren: Sarah Jayne (Toronto), Robert (Thunder Bay), Richard (Dryden) and David (Thunder Bay). She also leaves four beloved great grandchildren: Kadin Roy Kendall (Toronto), Hannah Isabelle and Simon Elijah Kendall (Dryden) and Brandyn Roderick Kendall (Thunder Bay). Also survived by several nieces and nephews (she was very close to nieces Nancy and Laurie Hoard and Wendy Vaillant) and sister-in-law Kay Grant. Belle will also be remembered by her good friend Ruby Cole. Family and friends are invited to gather at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2820 Donald Street at Edward at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. In lieu of flowers, Belle would have appreciated donations to the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James in care of arrangements. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mymko, Dr. Anthes and Dr. Milne and the staff at St. Joseph‘s Hospital, especially the hospice and palliative care nurses who did so much to ease her last few months. Many thanks to Nancy Wiita from Hospice Northwest, Rev. Barb Fugelsang and Rev. Bert Vancook. Special thanks also to care giver Nicole and Mom‘s friends and neighbours in Westfort who helped her live independently for so long in the home that she and Rod built.
