Jennie - Jeanne Wood (Somers) 22 August 1921- 14 July 2004 EDMONDS, WA - Jeanne passed away quietly with her loving family beside her in Edmonds, Washington, U.S.A. after what had been a long struggle with illness. She had optimistically and courageously battled against it until God in his mercy told her to let go, and she was very peaceful and without pain at the end. Jeanne was born and brought up in Moncton, New Brunswick the youngest of the three daughters of Walter Wood Somers and Victoria Marian (Howell) Somers. Her sister Kay predeceased her in 1998. She was very proud of the fact that she was a direct descendent of the Somers and Wilmot families. The Somers were one of the seven families who settled Moncton Township in 1766 and the Wilmot families are United Empire Loyalists, Her survivors who will proudly carry on her legacy are Linda Reid-Barbato (Dominic), James Brooke, Barbara Harrell (Ron), Kayce Field (John) and Susan King. Her grandchildren are Leah McLean (Peter), Terry Reid, Sara Brooke, Davis Brooke, Ian Lundvall Clarebrooke, John King and Lisa King. Her great-grandchildren are Christina Reid, Coby Reid, Bethany Foot and Brooke McLean as well as cousins, nephews and nieces. The family very much wishes to thank Jack Rennie who was our mother's best friend and confidante and who cared and loved her very much for all his help and kindness. We also wish to thank the many caregivers and to Hospice who entered into mother's life in her last year, for their kindness, patience and good care which contributed to the quality of her life immensely. There will be a graveside service and then a gathering at her daughter Barbara's home at 7207 173 S.W. Edmonds, Washington to celebrate her life on Friday July 23, 2004.
