POWELL, John "Jack" Francis It is with sadness that we announce the death of John "Jack" Francis Powell, who passed away on June 8, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital- Laurentian Site, at the age of 84 years. Born in Worthington June 12, 1919 and later residing in Garson, John served with the Canadian Army during World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 564 Lockerby. On June 21, 1947 he married Patricia Potts and he worked in the Smelter as a foreman at Falconbridge Ltd., retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service. While spending his last 10 years in Copper Cliff, he was an avid member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters as well as the Copper Cliff Rod and Gun Club. Beloved husband of Patricia Powell (nee Potts, predeceased 1991). Special friend of May Bellrose. Loving father of John Powell (wife Ann) of Garson and Cheryl Bruno (husband Sam) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Trisha Moore (husband Jamie) of Britt, Jody Third (husband Dave) of Val Caron, John Powell (friend Cindy) of Bowmanville and Sherri Powell of Sudbury. Proud great grandfather of Michael and Kaylee Moore. Dear son of the late John and Florence Powell, both predeceased. Dear brother of Ernestine Powell and Mabel Gillette both of Toronto, and the late Alma LaPierre, Margaret "Bud" McNabb, Anne Gibbons, Audrey Powell, and Burroughs "Buster" Powell all predeceased. The priority in his life was his loving family and his passion for the outdoors where he enjoying hunting and fishing, especially on Agnew Lake. A Memorial Service will be held at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St., Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 10 am under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Br #564 Lockerby. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-4; 7-9 pm Friday and after 9:30 am Saturday)
