WILSON, Evelyn, Gertrude (nee Gilpin) In loving memory and in great sorrow for the passing away of Evelyn Gertrude Wilson at home surrounded by Family at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of 57 years to Wilbur (Wib) Wilson, Sudbury. Loving mother of Sharon (Mark), Temiscaming, Brian (Ruth), Kingston, Valerie (Michael), Inverary. Cherished grandmother of Kim, Shannon, Stuart and Curtis. Extra special Great Grandmother of Ethan. Dear daughter of the late Joseph Elmer Gilpin and of the late Sarah Elizabeth Gilpin (nee Shell). Sadly missed by brother Fred Gilpin (Cecilia), Delta, British Columbia. Much loved sister-in-law of Bert Wilson, predeceased, Lorraine Stewart (Archie) predeceased, Ray Wilson predeceased (Cora), Pat Hall (Delbert) predeceased and Marilyn Mick predeceased (Murray). Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews and their families, Gwen, Marilyn, Roger, Diane, Larry, Peter, Patti, and Todd and especially by special nephew Dick Stewart (Teresa) and their family. Evelyn was born in Copper Cliff on April 24, 1927. After graduating from Copper Cliff High School and Sudbury Business College she worked at Robert Brown Jewellers in Sudbury. She married her husband Wilbur (Wib) in 1947. She was an active church member at Copper Cliff United Church, and St. Paul's United Church where she also sang in the church choir and then a long time member of St. Stephan's United Church. Evelyn was a greatly accomplished home maker who loved her home and yard and was well known for her excellent cooking and baking. She dedicated her life to being the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an exceptional home day care provider for her friends, Larry, Stephanie, Mandy and Morgan Holmes. Evelyn was a warm and caring friend and neighbour to many. In her later years Evelyn courageously battled various illnesses. She will be remembered for her loving, generous spirit, her strong Christian faith practiced through day to day living and her joyful appreciation of the simple pleasures in life. To everyone who helped care and support Evelyn and her family during her many years of illness sincere thanks and appreciation. Special mention to Annette Lynds, Wanda Lachance, Diane Henry, Diane Demeis, Roberta O'Reilly, Loretta Micelotta and Debbie Labelle. With their exceptional care, Evelyn was allowed to fulfill her wish to be at home during her final days. Special thanks to friend Reverend Catherine Sommerville. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Monday, July 19, 2004 at 11:30 am. Interment in the Civic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to Northern Cancer Research Foundation designated to Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research and Patient Care would be appreciated.
