LAING, Charles Alexander B.Sc., M.D.,C.M., M.Sc., F.R.C.S.(C), F.A.C.S. June 6, 1925 - July 8, 2004 Peacefully at home surrounded by all his family. Dearly beloved husband of Ann. Loved father of Martha of Montreal, Dewar and his wife Patricia of Harrow, Cynthia and her fiance Stephen Levy and daughter Alexandra of Windsor, Nora and her husband Michael Allison of Oshawa. Loved grandfather of Sean, Brendon and Hilary Laing. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. George F. Laing, and his brother, Dewar. Survived by his sister, Joyce Meanwell, of Owen Sound. A graduate of Trinity College School, Port Hope and McGill University, Montreal, Dr. Laing practiced general surgery in Windsor. He was a life member of the Essex County Medical Association and the Ontario Medical Association. During his years in practice he served as President of the Windsor Fellowship Club, as a founding member and President of the Windsor Academy of Surgery, as Vice-President of Windsor Medical Services, as President of the Detroit Academy of Surgery, as a two-term Governor for Ontario of the American College of Surgeons, as the local representative for the Canadian Medical Protective Association and as Chief of Surgery at Windsor Western Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital. He was a member of All Saints' Anglican Church and a life member of Essex Golf and Country Club. During World War II, Dr. Laing served in the RCNVR. Visitation at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 1969 Wyandotte St. East, on Sunday, July 11, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service at All Saints' Anglican Church, City Hall Square, Monday, July 12, 3 p.m. Internment in the Scott Arthurs Memorial Gardens.
