Christopher (Chris) Maurice Patenaude July 1, 1932 – April 1, 2004 Christopher Maurice (Chris) Patenaude, age 71 of Duck Lake, Saskatchewan passed away suddenly on April 1, 2004. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 29 years, Emilia, his sisters; Claudette Bissonnette, Reina Trudel (Richard), Helene Couture (Clarence), Marie Dupuis (Don), Linda Roy (Pierre), and his brothers Denis (Pierette), Armand (Lorraine), Richard (Marielle), and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, Armand and Delorès Patenaude. Chris was born in Cornwall, Ontario on July 1, 1932. He received his high school education in Summerstown, Ontario and in Granby, Quebec from the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. After teaching three years in Eastview, Ontario, he taught in Zenon Park, Sask. from 1954-1967. He the did missionary work in education in the Philippines with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart until 1974 where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Arts, Majoring in Education. He returned to Canada in 1974, taught one year in St. Louis and then in Duck Lake from 1975-1986, He was Principal of Stobart High School in Duck Lake from 1978-1986 when he retired after 35 years in education. After his retirement he worked for the Western Conference of Bishops coordinating religious education for the French sector of the Church in the four western provinces and the Territories. Chris has been actively involved in many organizations mainly at the community and parish level He was Chairman of the Parish Council, a Diocese Pastoral Council secretary for the past four years, and was presently working as Chairperson of an Ad hoc Committee of the Diocese Pastoral Council involving policy on church fees in the Diocese of Prince Albert. At the community level, Chris was Chairperson of the Museum Steering Committee, founding member of the Duck Lake Historical Museum Society and many other positions related to tourism and the Historical Museum Society. In 1989 Chris received the Duck Lake Citizen of the Year award. His wisdom was always welcome and his kindness and empathy was much sought after by many. The prayer service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Duck Lake. Donations may be made to the Duck Lake Historical Museum Society, Box 328, Duck Lake, Sask, SOK 1JO. Interment of his ashes will take place at a later date in Blessed Sacrament R.C. Cemetery.
