DESCHAMPS, Richard - 56, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Bruno and Thelma (MacKenzie) Deschamps. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1966 and completed 31 years of service retiring in 1997. During his naval career he served on H.M.C.S. Annapolis, Iroquois and Protector and at fleet school, with CF TSD 302 in Toronto from 1986-1992. Following retirement, he volunteered, then was hired as bartender with Recreation Therapy in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Paul's Church. He was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member of Monsignor Gerald D. Murphy Assemble, and a third degree member of St. Paul's Council 13017. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Levesque; son, Ryan (Wanda Kontak); grandson, Adrien; sisters, Cecile Deschamps, Dee Ann (Barry) McNally, Ellen (Garry) Grant, all of Montreal; brother, Gerry (Joyce), Toronto; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Margaret Levesque, Petawawa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzanne Levesque (Andre), Claude, Lynda (Bob) Busby, Denis (Viola), Monique (Jim) Muise, Elizabeth (Peter) Burtt, Marie (Michael) Manseau; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and his extended family, Maria Viera. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kevin. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. this evening and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Charles Burke and Father Terry O'Toole 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Windmill Road. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Hill Veterans Centre Club 29. "We love you Richard"
