KELLY, Ruth Louise (nee Kerr) - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ruth Louise Kelly in her 89th year on December 8 at the Rosslyn Retirement Home in Hamilton. Ruth is predeceased by her loving husband Douglas Blewett Kelly of Peterborough and her parents Thomas and Gertrude Kerr of Toronto. Ruth is survived by her children: Judy Tranter (Wil) of Toronto, Susan Courneya (Paul) of Ancaster, Ian Kelly (Marlene) of Toronto and Linda Kelly (Carl Fraser) of Dundas. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Chad, Jackie, Mark and Andrew. Ruth was born in Toronto and after attending Havergal College, graduated from the University of Toronto in 1937. During her younger years, Ruth spent her summers at the family cottage on Chemong Lake, near Peterborough. She met her future husband, Doug Kelly at the Pines Pavillion in Bridgenorth. They both loved to dance and attended many parties at the Pines. After marrying Doug, she lived in Peterborough and raised 4 children. Ruth's life revolved around her husband and family. Ruth and Doug both enjoyed sailing and spent many happy hours trying to win those sailing races on Chemong Lake. After Doug died, Ruth moved to Hamilton to be closer to her 2 daughters. During the past few years, Ruth had lost her memory of present day events, but she still kept her great sense of humour and will be remembered by all as a very sweet and gentle lady. The Rosslyn was a very special place for Ruth and her children. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Rosslyn for the wonderful care they have given Ruth over the past two and a half years. Ruth was always treated with much kindness and compassion by all the caring staff members. Also special thanks to Dr. Chan. There will be a private family funeral at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home in Dundas. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the C.N.I.B. Goodbye Ruth, Doug is waiting for you. 12/11/2004- ID5360176 - Peterborough Examiner
