Muriel "Dixie" Leonce Lewis Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) LEWIS, Muriel Leonce "Dixie" - Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on December 9, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Thomas M. Dickson and Florence Anne Canning of Claremont, Cumberland Co. She attended school at Valley Road Elementary, High School at Oxford, and later at Saint Charles Business Academy, Amherst. She worked for many years at the Royal Bank, Truro and Ottawa. She worked for H&R Block for several years, and later with the Canadian Coast Guard until her retirement. During her employment with the Coast Guard, she attended Mount Saint Vincent University on her own time and graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration. She was a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Alumni, The RCMP Veterans Women's Auxiliary, a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, and a member of Star Dusters Square Dance Club. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, Dartmouth; daughter, Anne (Mrs. Ken Hansen), Ottawa; son, Eric James, Calgary; grandchildren, Lisa and Jennifer Hansen, Steven and Branden Lewis; brother, Basil, Springhill; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Guy, Clyde, and Ralph Dickson. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Pastor Douglas Moore officiating. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 255 Portland St., Dartmouth, NS B2Y 1J8. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Dartmouth General Hospital, and to those who have cared for Muriel during her time of need.
