Laura Matilda Davis (née Jollymore) June 12, 1921 - December 15, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) DAVIS, Laura Matilda - June 12, 1921 - December 15, 2004. "Mom wanted to spend Christmas with Dad this year". Laura died peacefully at home in Scotia Nursing Home, in the arms of her daughter Marion and nurse Susan. Laura was a daughter of the late Wilbert Melbourne and Hattie Mabel (Jennings) Jollymore, Mill Cove, Lunenburg Co. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Wayne Hickey, Lower Sackville. Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca "Betty" and Arnold Parsons; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Edna Jollymore; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cyril; brothers, Lawson and Lewis. Laura worked for many years with the Halifax County School Board at Sackville Heights Elementary School before retiring in 1986. Laura resided for the past several years at Scotia Nursing Home in Beaver Bank with her sister. She made many friends there, and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by staff and residents. "I believe there are angels among us...they come to us in our darkest hours". Special thanks to all who provided a comforting blanket of support for us during Mom's last few days. Visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 934 Old Sackville Rd., Archdeacon Ron Cutler officiating. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. A reception will take place in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Friends of Scotia Nursing Home Residents Society c/o Ila MacMullin, 39 Oakmount Rd., Bedford, NS B4A 2W1, or St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
