SPEEDIE; Ann. On Wednesday December 15, 2004 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Speedie. Was born Christine Ann Griffiths in Hundleton Wales, on December 25, 1915. She came to Canada in 1947, Tom's "souvenir" of the war, since they had met when he was a RCAF pilot stationed in her home town. Business proprietor and layout artist for Speedie Ltd., she and Tom for many years had fine china and souvenir shops in Niagara Falls and Port Colborne. Ann is best known as a champion of the arts in Niagara. She was one of the founding members of Niagara Concerts, and served as president and director for over 25 years. She has been honoured by the city of Niagara Falls, the Province of Ontario and the Famous People Players, Toronto for her contribution to the arts in Canada. An avid gardener, Ann's "enchanted forest" was a hit of the Horticultural Societyâs annual garden tour on several occasions. She was also a passionate duplicate bridge player and race horse owner. For many years, she was an active member of the IODE, the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Heart Niagara and the Shaw Festival "Ladies". Ann is the beloved mother of Penelope Ann Speedie and her partner Larris Noble, adored Nana of Christina Ione Noble-Speedie, loving sister of Barbara and husband Peter Price, cherished aunt of Ray, Christine and Claire Harris, Gary and Rebecca Price all of Pembroke, Wales, David and Sandy Briggs, Donald and Dahlia Briggs all of Niagara Falls; great aunt to Amber, William, Shawn, Jodee and Kelly Briggs of Niagara Falls and dear godmother to Judith Chase of Washington DC. The funeral service will be held at Christ Church on Monday December 20, 2004 at 4 o'clock p.m. Cremation will follow the service. As an expression of sympathy in memoriam contributions to Niagara Concerts would be appreciated by the family and may be completed at Hetherington and Deans Funeral Chapel, on Victoria Avenue. - 12/17/2004 - ID5396758
