WARBURTON, Roger H. Dear Friends and Family: It is with great sadness and joy that I announce that Dad (at approx. 80 years young) left this world for his heavenly home on December 18, 2004. Sadness, because I'll miss him terribly, and joy, because he is now rejoicing with Mom and Rick with the angels in the presence of God. I know Dad is happy now to be with Gwen, his wife of more than 55 years, whom he loved more than his own life. He is also reunited with Rick, who left us at 49 years, as well as other family and friends. Dad was born and raised in Victoria, where he met and married Mom, also from Victoria. A bacteriologist by training at UBC, he worked briefly in Vancouver where Rick was born, then moved to Ottawa to work for the Federal Government (Agriculture Canada and Treasury Board etc). In Ottawa, he raised another son (Don), continued his career in the Government then retired at 55 years young. Their Victoria heritage and family called them back to Victoria then to Parksville, where they lived for over 15 years until their "home coming" I would like to thank his friends and neighbours (rather family), the Nanaimo hospital staff, and Laureva House staff for their help and support. As well I want to thank my friends, family and c0-workers, especially my LPW Church family, in Ottawa for their assistance during this time. Dad did not wish any type of service to honour his passing, so I will comply with his wishes and will honour him with a suitable contribution to charity. Instead of flowers, he would want you to do likewise to the Heart and Stroke Fund, the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Please rejoice with me at Dad's "Home Coming". -Don.
