Mary Beach Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home BEACH, M. Mary (nee Kenney) was born January 13, 1931 in Forgan, SK and passed away in Regina in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer on December 21, 2004. She was predeceased by her mother, Madeleine, father, Dominic and her daughter Correen (Catherwood). Mary is survived by her two sons: Patrick (Debbie) and Timothy (Louise); son-in-law, Ken Catherwood and by her six grandchildren: Kristin, Janelle, Ashley, Shawn, Megan and Nicole. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Kenney of Alameda, CA, who was able to visit last week with her canine companion, Christi Lee; Pat and Tim’s father, Orland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many close friends. Mary attended school in Forgan and Rosetown, and then went to Normal School in Saskatoon. Upon receiving her Teachers’ Certificate, she taught in several small-town schools in Saskatchewan. She settled in Ernfold to teach and there married Orland Beach where they raised their family. In 1979, Mary moved to Regina where she became a daycare director and worked for Social Services – Daycare Division until her retirement in 1996. During this time Mary returned to school and received her Bachelor of Education. Upon retirement Mary opened a daycare in her home, which she ran until she became ill. During this time Mary was also raising her daughter’s three children. Mary was a strong woman, always putting others before herself. Mary was an avid curler for many years, then becoming the best “behind the glass” coach. Most of all Mary lived for her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren will fondly remember their yearly trip to the cottage with Grandma. She will be greatly missed by all. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Sunset United Church, 177 Sunset Drive, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Lori Erhardt officiating. The family would like to express thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of Palliative Care, Dr. Rason and Dr. Clein.
