Orest William Danyliw February 01, 1935 - July 29, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Orest Danyliw (aged 69 years) unexpectedly, but peacefully passed away. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Austy and his children; Barb (Doug), Sharon (Bruce), Gail, and Brian (Ann). Orest took great pride in his grandchildren; Nicole & Megan (Gail), Taylor, Tamara, Troy (Barb and Doug) and Zoe (Sharon and Bruce). Orest was born in Edam, Saskatchewan where he worked on the family farm and in the family restaurant in Glaslyn. He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Ann. Orest also leaves behind two sisters, Olga and Helen and a brother George. Around 1954 Orest emigrated to BC where he met and married Austy and started their family. Orest started working for B.C.F.P. in 1963 and stayed with the company through many changes over his 34 year tenure. He retired from Fletcher Challenge in 1999 as the planning department supervisor. Dad’s family and friends will not forget, and will sadly miss, his sense of humour. Dad will be fondly remembered for the advice he offered on any subject; as well as, for the skilful helping hands that were always available for any task. Dad took great pride in his ability to fix anything and always enjoyed being the ‘foreman/supervisor’ of any job. Dad is lovingly remembered for always being at the job ahead of the scheduled time, with his tractor in tow, and his loving wife Austy at his side. Austy always kept a watchful eye on Dad as he worked around the yard on his tractor, and we all have a funny memory or two of Dad’s tractoring. Of course, Dad was always the first to relive the tractor stories at holiday gatherings and laugh. Poppa was extremely happy when the grandchildren came to visit. The pool was always open, and Poppa was always ready to jump in and splash around. He enjoyed the camping trips and many sleepovers with his grandchildren. Dad was a very proud, dedicated family man. He gave us direction, advice, and help we needed throughout his time with us. For that and many other things Dad, we are all very grateful. Words can never say how much we will all miss you. Rest well. We love you. A Memorial Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 1:00 pm. with at reception following in the Sands Arbor Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
