OBITUARY MURIEL RAEMONDE BERTIE (nee WILBURN) 1921 - 2009 "We Love because first He Loved us" Muriel was born in Mazenod, Saskatchewan and is predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Douglas William Bertie, her parents Ray and Verna Wilburn, her five siblings Eddie, Eileen, Glen, Layne and Bill and Douglas' sister Florence. Muriel always said "I love you all the way up to heaven and back down again" to all of us. She will be sadly missed by her children Glenn, Gordon, Lynn and Donna, her grandchildren Chanti, Michaela, Graham, Lasha, Shauna and Georgia, her great-grandsons Troy, Morgan, Willem and Janek, her son-in-law Christos Sfyridis and Michaela's husband Jeff Altenburg. Close friends of the family are Marie-Claire Le Pessec, Joan Bertie and Judy Waites. Muriel was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a foster mother to Joey and Louie. Muriel was a fabulous substitute teacher for many years. She was generous and kind to so many people and our home was always open to lots of children, other families and friends. The arrangements are entrusted to Rideau Funeral Home (514) 685-3344. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Trinity United Church, 3050 Blvd. Rosemount at 2 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Ste. Anne's Hospital Foundation, 305 Boul.
